The purpose of the PDF version of the ad is for e-tears. This format is editable and contains encoded graphics so it is also good for archiving. For this reason, some may opt to use the JPG for e-tears since it is a slightly more secure format.
Each ad is converted to JPG. This JPG is highly compressed for maximum quality at minimum size, and is thus ready in this format to be placed on the web.
This text index allows for the ads to be key word searched, on the web or in the archive.
Before the page is even started, the ads are inserted into a page template to simulate their placement on the page. This preview is available in PDF and JPG formats. This allows for a quick visual refrence when checking for the placement of ads.
Each Page is converted to be previewed for approval for content and ads. The text is also extracted from the page for searchablility. The images from the page are also extracted to jpg format for various uses, including easy web updateing. Custom conversions can also take place here.
During the approval process the page is moved from one “Inbox” to another. During this process varrious commands can be run on the page to yield various outcomes. For example the page could be compressed and sFTPed to a remote print facility.
Ad approval can be acomplished from any of the available refrences and by anyone assigned. For example, the news room could check and ok ads from the preview or a press side person could check the ads and the page seperations from Panther's Archive browser before sending them to film.
